First Peace Corps blog post! →
FYI, I’ll still be using this blog (though not as frequently) when I’m gone. However, I’ll be trying to update the Peace Corps blog as often as possible, with words and other fancy things :)

Paperwork is done, bags are being packed, keys have been turned in, apartment is being cleaned, I am getting ready to go. Another year, another crazy crazy year. And this is probably the last time I follow an academic schedule…unless I become a teacher.
Hmm. Am I fancy yet?

I've created a new blog! →
I will be using this blog to detail my experiences as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Dominican Republic. Currently, I just have a placeholder and will jazz it up when I have the time :) Check it out!
I can taste the end of grad school now. It’s been a wild ride.

On the difficulties of creative expression, pt. 2
Part 1 found here.
Now here is something I’ve noticed during my time in graduate school. Much of my artistic side has not been given a chance to flourish due to the endless onslaught of work which any grad student has to suffer through (much more so if you’re idiotic enough to enter a program which makes you complete your coursework within a year).
I’ve noticed that I do not...
Sound advice
Katie: Don't listen to everything that I say.
Me: That is advice that I will never take.

Morning Conversations
*Talking about milk expiration dates*
Me: Luke, drink this, it expires after today.
Luke: So, it curdles after midnight?
Katie: Like Cinderella!
Me: What?
Katie: Cinderella went to the ball at midnight.
Me: No...she changed back at midnight.
Katie: What? I thought she had to wait till everyone left so she could sneak out.
Me: When did you think she changed back?
Katie: I don't know, 3 am?
I've been getting in touch with my musical roots.
Just looking through this blog would give one an impression that I have varied music tastes. This is true; however, there are very specific genres that I will listen to nearly all the time. Many of these genres are nostalgic, in that they were part of the foundation of the development of my musical tastes (ugh, what a mouthful. Friggin grad school…)

Here’s the funny thing: I’ve been incredibly productive today. Incredibly productive these past couple weeks, even.
But I sure as hell don’t feel like it. The pile of things to do never ends.

Welp. I am going to move to the Dominican Republic in August. The whole thing hasn’t quite sunk in yet, so I’ll have to do a good hard think (for the first time in a long time) before I can decide just how stoked I am to go there. :D

Me: Makes for a good Ricardian model of trade
Me: I get cough drops, I value them little
Me: But food is valued highly
Me: Whereas you are the opposite
Me: So our two curves intersect and we would be able to trade and the tradeoff would have equal value for both of us
Katie: That's the sexiest thing anyone has ever said to me

On Jack White Releasing a New Solo Album
Me: Jack White is releasing a new solo album guys!
Luke: Oh yeah?
Greg: Who's Jack White?
Me: Yeah, the dude from the White Stripes.
Greg: Oh, cool!
Me: I heard the single he just released, its pretty good. I'm excited for it.
Greg: Have the White Stripes done anything new?
Me: They're history, old news. Broke up.
Greg: It was him and that one girl, yeah?
Luke: How'd that happen?
Me: Well I mean, they were married and then divorced.
Luke: Did that play a factor into the breakup?
Me: Dude. They were married. And then divorced. How could it not?
Luke: Well I meant did they continue playing after the divorce or was that the cause of the breakup?
Me: Oh no, they were still playing together. But gone now.
Greg: Probably couldn't stand it.
Me: Yeah, he was probably like "I don't wanna see your face when I can't get into your vagina anymore"
Greg: That should be the title of his new album.
Me, Luke: Those would be great song lyrics!
Me: Writing it.

You have to be fairly creative when you lose your voice, especially when you have something important to say.
