Disparaging

I’ve always taken stock at what I’ve done every year, right before I officially add another +1 to my age.  I’m never really sure whether I’ve done things correctly (by some meaningless abstract definition of ‘correct’) but I’m always surprised by how much time I’ve spent doing things.  You never really seem to recognize how incredible your accomplishments in the moment; its only upon hindsight where you can realize the brilliance or the idiocy of your decisions.

Funny thing, that.  Because I’ve never felt incredibly brilliant about it.  That’s what probably spurs me to work even harder in the forthcoming year.

If it’s at all humanly possible…
